Good Acres helps congregations explore ways to revitalize their property in a manner that benefits the community and ensures long-term sustainability for the congregation.
Our mission is to connect San Antonio's 3,000 acres of underused property owned by faith communities with neighborhood needs and opportunities, reimagining the land to support community flourishing.
To achieve this mission we focus on People and Process:
Good Acres Membership and our Online Hub bring these elements together in an accessible way to: 1) Build Relationships & Connections and 2) Access Tools & Resources.
Connection: Through the Good Acres Directory and Discussion Boards you can access cross-sector collaborations with other faith, city, and community leaders.
Inspiration: Learn from local and nationwide examples of community-benefit projects and social enterprises in the areas of food access, workforce development, parks & green spaces, culinary, retail, and housing just to name a few.
Engage & Learn: Curated discussions about topics that matter to you and your organization’s work in neighborhoods in San Antonio. Topics such as “Finding Funding” “Inspiring Stories” “Development Questions” “Community Engagement How To” and others initiated by the community.
Practical Resources: We love community-centered workbooks and toolkits that can help your congregation or your work in the community. We’ll be sharing our practical resources every month — And if you don’t see what you are looking for, just ask!
